Hearty
When pictures appeared on the net, we immediatly fell in love with these bikes (is it the heart-detail … could be!). So after getting into contact with Stijn, here’s the story from the man himself!
The short story
“Since I was 16, I have spent most of my time on a DH bike. From 2000 until 2002 I was Belgian Champion en at the same time I had begun work as product designer, mostly in Germany (for brands like Schwalbe, Riese und Müller, Selle San Marco, Asterix ans so on). In 2003 I participated in the RedBullRide in Australia for the last time and after that I worked mostly. Before that time I had been racing on the road as well as cyclocross. I wasn’t half bad, but had more important things to do with my time then to train. 4-5 years ago I started participating in and organizing alley cats, and I imported my first Keirin bike from Japan. Someone asked me a couple of years ago which frames I preferred riding and ever since I have been looking for someone who could make them the way they were made in the 80s, with fillet brazing and ultra thin chromo tubing. Seeing as this was truly a …manual trade which even the old Indians wouldn’t do anymore, I had almost given up on my project. But a year ago I discovered someone. I asked for advice and tubing at Columbus en a few months later I received the first frames according to my designs. I introduced track, road, cyclocross and MTB frames at Eurobike and people were very enthusiastic. I am now working on completing my orders list ASAP and trying to keep the delivery times to a minimum. Frames start at €600 (Columbus Zona) up to €2000 (XCr). (Sale price, with a margin for dealers/ distributors)! So far only custom made, built to the wishes of the client. Also stems, luggage racks and so on are offered; in effect I can do anything, but I try to guide my customers to the best of my abilities so keeping true to my own style.”
