Flwrider “FRAME” Interview with Stijn:

“We catch up with Stijn Deferm, founder of Stijn Cycles, on his recent trip to Hong Kong to support the HK/Shenzhen Biennale which has helped bring cycling to the public eye.

An ex-Downhill mountain bike champion and having won the Belgium National downhill mountain bike championship 3 times, Stijn tells us about his biking/racing background, past projects and getting in/working in the bike industry for well over 10 years.

Eddy Merckz by “the Misz”

The Misz was a minimal guitar-synth-world wave band. Back in the 80ies, in Gent, Belgium. They released 3 K7-albums, and can be found on numerous compilations. Their 2nd album “Eddy Merckz” is now – almost 25 years later – released on vinyl by Onderstroom Records in a limited edition of 300 copies. order your copy now on Onderstroom Records.

Beside the usual noise- and experimental-projects there were also great new-wave-bands like The Misz. Eddy Merckz is a good example for the extreme high quality of the 80’s cassette-culture-scene. Their very catchy sound is comparable to early Virgin Prunes with some more pop-appeal; fine harmonies and male/female singer made this band to remarkable milestone in european new-wave, although they unfortunately never reached a bigger audience. And “Eddy Merckz” is in my eyes their best work: politics and music found together…”

Limited to 300 copies pressed on high quality vinyl (160gr.) The first 69 copies will include a yellow screenprinted insert with a picture of Belgians greatest cycler Eddy Merckz.
